Astral Projections

Have you ever experienced “flying dreams?”  They are but scratching the surface of astral projection: the incredible freedom of being unimpeded by gravity or other physical limitations of the human body.

We are all energy at our core:  this is the basis for astral projection.  In this practice you separate your energy or “astral” form from your physical body in order to commune with “higher” beings or access information that doesn’t exist in our physical world.  Some believe that deities exist in the astral realm and use astral projection as a way to connect with divine energy and insight.

The first exercise to begin moving beyond your body is meditation.  You must calm your mind and move beyond chaos:  the cat crying for attention, the dog barking at the cat and the neighbors banging on the wall.  These distractions keep your spirit attached to your physical surroundings and impede your ability to enter the meditative state necessary for releasing your energy being.

When you are in a deeply peaceful state you may begin releasing yourself from your physical body.  There are many techniques for this step … picture yourself floating above your body; strip off your physical body like taking off a body suit; envision a bright light above you and rise toward it.  Whatever method you choose, the result should be a state of altered consciousness, lightness of being and freedom.

What do you do now that you’re free?  Explore!  Many describe the astral realm as filled with bright, colorful spots of light.  Others see spirit energies gathered for dancing, praying, or simply sharing their light.  Observe your surroundings and feel the energy being exuded by the astral beings.  Perhaps one will detach itself from its festivities to welcome you.  The invitation might simply be an energy pull – like metal to a magnet – or the light might suddenly appear to be part of your own energy field.  Your astral guide will introduce you to the workings of the astral realm.

Many access the astral realm in an effort to gain greater understanding of their life or soul purpose.  This is a very complex subject, so best not to tackle too early or to expect it all to come clear in one or two sessions.  Communication on the astral realm is challenging for earthbound beings.  The pull of the human body makes it difficult to maintain the high energy vibration required for meaningful exchange of information and ideas between the earthbound astral and pure energy beings.  Keep an open mind and listen before pestering your newfound friends with all the details you are so anxious to learn.
Start out slowly and limit your projection exercise to no more than five or ten minutes.  When you reconnect with your physical being you may feel highly energized.  This is not uncommon when working in the energy realm.  It is, therefore, best to make your first forays into the astral when you have time to enjoy the energizing effects.  For others the exercise will conclude with a sense of being deeply relaxed and safe, forming the launching pad to implement another technique, such as lucid dreaming, more effectively than practicing that technique on its own.

Relax, project, commune and return are the key aspects of astral projection.  With practice this energizing activity can become part of your daily life.
