Out of my body, or out of my mind?

In my late teens I had become ill with peritonitis – a potentially fatal infection of the abdomen.  One night I realized that I was seriously ill and went to the emergency room where I slipped into a coma.  I was put on massive IV doses of antibiotics and moved into the CCU (critical care unit).

During that time I remember being in a very serene and peaceful place that was filled with colorful light beings that were trying to communicate with me.  It was in this state that I “met” one of my spirit guides with whom I now interact daily.  He explained to me the higher plane to which I would one day return.

After a time he told me that it was time for me to go back to my physical body to finish the work I was put on the earth to do.  He stayed with me for awhile and I suddenly found myself in my hospital room and looked down on my body, which was surrounded by several very grim doctors.  I waited until the room had cleared and I could figure out how to get back in without causing a ruckus.
I opened my eyes and looked at a nurse whose eyes were about ready to pop out of her head.  She ran out and had the doctors called back to my room … they were considering their options because my vitals and respiration had nearly dropped off the chart for several days.

Lots of people have told me that I was simply interpreting the activities around me while in a dream state, but I know what I know.  I was out of my body, not out of my mind!
